Hi Everyone,

Equity markets declined last week and that shouldn’t really surprise anyone considering recent strength. It does give some of us an opportunity to look at a few things.

Not Timing

Investors should not try to time the market. In other words, don’t jump in or out just because of a decline. Rather, use the dips to look for opportunities to add value in areas you may want exposure to or use them to rebalance a fully invested portfolio.

Declines like last week potentially do a lot of good if managed well as we saw moderate declines throughout the global economy. This can be useful to proper positioning.

Planning

Market declines are also a tool that you can use to determine how comfortable you are with your investment plan. Did you do any of the following as a result of last week?

1) Log on to view your account more than normal?

2) Watch too many weekend finance shows?

3) Engage in doom and gloom conversations?

If so, try calling your advisor/me and let’s figure out what part of your investment strategy has you concerned.

Until next week,
