The new technologies emerging in the healthcare and IT sectors are truly amazing. As an investor, embrace these new friends for they could become your foes if ignored.
Friends Not Foes
Discovering New Technologies
As the next couple of months unfold, you may need a break from political news and I think you can find a few new friends in the area of new technology. Don’t be afraid to look. Foes tend to be the things we don’t know about.
Here is a bit about four companies active in discovering tomorrow’s technology. This isn’t an investment recommendation; it’s educational:
Align Technology (ALGN) – designs, manufacturers, and markets the invisalign system for treating malocclusion.
Cisco (CSCO) – high-performance computer internetworking systems.
Gilead Sciences (GILD) – biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, and commercializes human therapeutics for the treatment of life threatening diseases.
Qualcomm (QCOM) – digital telecommunications products and services.
By visiting the websites of these companies or looking them up from a stock investing perspective, you’ll find fascinating reading material about their visions for tomorrow.
Be sure and let me know if you want to discuss whether or not investing in new technology is appropriate for you.
Until next week,
Susan R. Linkous
Note: Always remember that sector investing will be subject to greater volatility than investing more broadly across many sectors and companies.
