Hi Everyone,

Tax season is upon us, markets are rebounding from January and we’ve got a few things to focus on to make the most of 2014.

Taxes – 1099s

LPL Financial will have 1099 forms out to my clients this week. You may be able to download and print from your account view access too. Let me know if you need help.

You can expect to see mutual fund distributions including short and long-term gains. Last year was a good year for most investors so don’t resent it too much.

My management fees may be tax deductible to you and are shown on your 1099. Please encourage your tax preparer to email me with any questions about this. Sooner better than later.

If your 2013 return surprises you in any way, let me know. I would like to review the return.

Time, Updates

There is something about the first four months of the year that gets people focused. My concern is for those that haven’t found something to update yet in 2014. Ideas:

Trust and Family Will

Medical Directives

Variable rate loans like equity credit lines

Insurance policies

Bank fees should be reviewed including credit cards

Get your annual credit report

Beneficiary designations

Investment Policy Statement

Strategic Wealth Management

SAM to SWM

The transition of our SAM clients into our Strategic Wealth Management program is moving along well. If you are a fee-based client and have not yet discussed this with me, please reach out soon.

The change is minor and it will give us a chance to keep 2014 focused on creating wealth for you.

Until next week,
